How to Upload to SlideShare to Boost Your Blog

Slideshare is a content sharing website. Instead of shared video contents are shown like Youtube, or pdf and office documents like Scribd, Slideshare allows for the upload of professional office presentations and videos. In order to use Slideshare for uploads, you need to sign up.

Slideshare can be reached by going to their website. Acquired by LinkIn in 2012, you can use your LinkIn account to log-in and browse contents of other Slideshare public sharing users. You can also privately upload your own slides and your uploaded file will not be available for viewing of other users.

Documents supported by Slideshare include:

1. Microsoft PowerPoint (.ppt/.pps/.pptx/.ppsx/.pot/.potx)
2. Microsoft Word (.doc/ .docx/ .rtf)
3. Adobe PDF (.pdf)
4. OpenOffice Presentation Document (.odp)
5. OpenOffice Documents (.odt)
6. Most .txt files

Slideshare is used to upload infographics, presentations and documents.

Slideshare Login

Log-in to Slideshare. Click Sign up. Using your LinkIn account, you will be asked for user name and email address. Enter the country you're from and Create Profile option will be available.

As a new user, you will have blank Clipboard. Clipboards are used to organized your uploaded Slideshare files for easy management. Create the clipboard by pointing the mouse to your profile picture and select My Clipboards. You will see the + button and clicking it create the clipboard. Enter  your desired name and you now have clipboard for your slides.

Click on upload button beside you profile pic at the top of the website. Select the file and make sure it is listed on the supported documents above.

Fill up the title, description, category, privacy option, and tags. It is advisable to put more details on the tag as well. Put in at least 20 tags to describe your content. Title and description should be relevant to the content. Select public in Privacy options if you choose to share your slides.

Once done, you can view the uploads from the My Upload section. Click the "Clip" to assign the clipboard for the slide.

You can edit the slide easily by clicking the uploaded slide.

The power of Slideshare in sharing your Youtube videos is made possible by having a feature to put your Youtube video and incorporating it into the slide. Under Edit Youtube Video, you can point to your Youtube link and select which position it can be place between slides. It is advisable to put it in front if the Youtube video is the video version of the slide you made. Videos can bring more detail to the slide since the transition effects can be seen in your uploaded Youtube video version of the slide.

Promoting your blog with Slideshare is easy. With the correct description and moving title, your blogs can get a boost from these avenues of backlinking. You also have an option to monetize your slide by linking your Youtube to your Slideshare files since Slideshare have 7 million users. More audience means more opportunities to show your content.
